Nice

City Overview:

Nice is a major tourist destination all year round. Its worth taking the time to discover Nice in depth : wander at random through the narrow streets of the old town and then stroll along the famous "Promenade" before entering into the heart of the city with its rich architectural and cultural heritage and its parks and gardens. Nice has a total of 19 museums and galleries, 32 classified historical monuments and 300 hectares parks and gardens, woodland and green areas in addition to 150 ornamental lakes and fountains.

In spite of modernization, the city retains its medieval heritage in the atmospheric Vieille Ville (old town), with its closely packed red-tiled roofs and narrow winding streets packed with shops, bars and fabulous restaurants. Next door, the famous Cours Saleya flower and food market has scores of stands, from large, professionally displayed wares to folding tables set up by family farmers with their produce directly from the farm.

Nice's shingle beaches occasionally disappoint visitors anticipating a classic, white sand beach holiday, but this does not mean the beaches stay empty; during summer the bright blue sea, sunshine and beautiful surroundings draw thousands of holidaymakers to this French Riviera city. The Promenade des Anglais lines the shingle beaches for about five miles (8 km) and has been a favourite for leisurely strollers since Victorian times.

Nice's Mediterranean climate is divided into hot summers and mild, wet winters, although the most rainfall is usually in autumn (October). August is the hottest month, while January experiences the coldest winter temperatures

A Customer's Review:

This hotel was fantastic. Good value for money, clean, up-to-date decor and really friendly and obliging staff. We arrived early in Nice and were allowed to check in to our rooms early at no extra cost which was a bonus. The hotel has its own little bar if you're too tired to go out but its in a fantastic location, close to shops and famous landmarks... i'd certainly stay here next time i come to Nice.
