Day 10: The End of the Line

Drive from Varmahlíð back to Reykjavík. Sights along the way can include the beautiful Þingeyrarkirkja church, where the first monastery in Iceland was founded in 1133; the natural fortress Borgarvirki; Deildartunguhver, the largest hot spring in Europe; the beautiful Hraunfossar lava waterfalls; and the historic site of Reykholt. You can also drive straight to Reykjavík and spend the afternoon there. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavík.

Day 11: Back to the Real World

Transfer to Keflavik airport with FlyBus. If your flight is in the afternoon, you can stop at the Blue Lagoon and even take a little tour of the Reykjanes peninsula (not included).

Please note that some activities mentioned may require a specific minimum of passengers or may only be operated on specific days of the week.

Day 1: The Capital of Cool

Arrival in Keflavik, meet and greet followed by transfer to Reykjavík.

If you arrive early, we recommend stopping at the Blue Lagoon on your way to Reykjavík (not included) and/or getting the Reykjavík Tourist Card, which grants you access to all the museums owned by the city of Reykjavík, all the swimming pools in Reykjavík and all buses that run within the greater Reykjavík area. Stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavík.

Day 2: Golden Circle and ATV Safari

Drive to some of the best-known natural phenomena in Iceland including Þingvellir National Park, the waterfall Gullfoss and the great Geysir area. Join an exciting ATV tour in Haukadalur by Geysir in the afternoon. Overnight in the Hvolsvöllur area.

Day 3: South Shore and Snowmobile Adventure

Drive from Hvolsvöllur to Skaftafell National Park, one of the most beautiful places in Iceland, stopping by Mýrdalsjökull glacier on the way for a thrilling snowmobile ride by a sub-glacial volcano. Overnight in the Skaftafell National Park area.

Day 4: Hiking on Europe’s Largest Glacier

Take a supervised glacier exploration or ice-climbing trip on Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier. You can also join an optional hay cart ride over sands, marshes and waters to cape Ingólfshöfði, a birdwatcher’s paradise, in the afternoon. Overnight in the Skaftafell National Park area.

Day 5: Icebergs and the East

Drive from Skaftafell to Egilsstaðir in eastern Iceland, stopping on the way to take a boat ride on the picturesque glacial lagoon Jökulsárlón.

Day 7: Lave Cave and Ice Formations

Join a guided jeep tour that takes you on a 4X4 jeep to the enormous tephra cone Hverfell and the crater row of Lúdentaborgir. You are then taken on an expedition into one of Iceland’s most spectacular lava caves, the 3500 year old and 370 meter long Lofthellir, which boasts Iceland’s most breathtaking natural ice sculptures. Overnight around Lake Mývatn.

Day 8: Grand Canyons and Great Whales
