Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival/Stockholm

The tour starts at Arlanda airport, where you are met and transferred to your accommodation in the heart of Stockholm. If you arrive early, we recommend getting the Stockholm Card, which gives you access to most museums in Stockholm, the Stockholm underground and local buses. Spend the night in Stockholm.

Day 2: Stockholm - Eskilstuna

From Stockholm, you will drive west to Mariefred and explore the 16th-century Gripsholm castle. It is probably the most famous castle in the country, with well-preserved interior from the different epochs, and also houses a large art collection. Drive towards Eskilstuna, past Strängnäs, where you will visit the cathedral and the Grassagården museum. If it is still lunchtime, we can recommend a visit at the Ulvhälls herrgård Manor House, where the specialty is produce from local areas. Stay the night in the Eskilstuna area.

Day 3: Sigurd rock carving, Fiholm Castle and more

Today you have all day to explore the many sights in the area. One of the highlights is the Sigurd rock carving, created 1,000 years ago. At Sundbyholms Castle, you can have lunch or dinner. Visit the unfinished Fiholm Castle, of which only two wings were ever built, and explore Eskilstuna, where you will find the 17th-century Rademacher blacksmith community. Stay the night in the Eskilstuna area.

Day 4: Eskilstuna – Västerås

Start the day by visiting Tidö Castle, which houses the largest toy museum in Sweden. The interior of the baroque Strömsholms Castle is well kept and is famous for its riding school and annual riding competitions. If you want, you can take the detour to Surahammar, a 19th-century town where you can, for example, take a boat tour or go horse riding.  Drive to the Västerås area, where you will stay the night.

Day 5: Västerås – Uppsala

Get acquainted with Engsö Castle’s “ghostly” past before heading to Grönsö Castle, where you will find an exhibition and a good castle gift shop. Drive to Uppsala, home of the Uppsala Castle and the Uppsala Cathedral, the largest in Scandinavia—the Skokloster Castle, with its big collection of art and antiques, is well worth a visit. Stay the night in the Uppsala area.

Day 6: Uppsala - Stockholm

Drive at your own pace to Stockholm, to spend the day there, or stop at the Royal Rosersberg Castle and Svartsjö Castle, which are on the way. Spend the night in Stockholm

Day 7: Departure

Transfer from Stockholm by Arlanda Express to Arlanda airport. Passengers departing with the afternoon flight will have time for some last-minute shopping, a perfect way to end your holiday.
