Itinerary

Day 1: The Capital of Norway

Arrival at Gardermoen Airport; meet-and-greet, followed by transfer to your accommodation, situated in the heart of Oslo City. If you arrive early, we recommend getting the Oslo Tourist Pass, which provides free travel on all public transport, free admission to over 25 museums and sites, discounts on further attractions and sightseeing, restaurants and shops. Stay the night in Oslo.

Day 2: The Highlights of Oslo

Today you’ll have the opportunity to get to know the capital of Norway. Included in the stay is a two-and-a-half-hour guided city sightseeing tour, which will take you to many of Oslo’s most impressive sights, including the Holmenkollen Ski Jump and Ski Museum, the Viking Ship Museum, the Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Royal Palace, the Polar ship “Fram”, Akershus Fortress and central Oslo. After the tour, you’ll have the rest of the day free to explore the city, go shopping, dine at cosy restaurants or just relax in this friendly capital. Stay the night in Oslo.

Day 3: Over the Roof of Norway

Today you’ll start early and head to Oslo Central Station, where you’ll board the Bergensbanen train that will take you over the mountain roof of Norway on your way to Bergen. You’ll be passing through forests, plateaus and ski centres, riding along the vast Hardangervidda National Park. This train ride, voted one of the 20 best railways in the world, will also take you through the charming villages of Gol, Geilo and Voss on your way to the capital of the fjords, Bergen. Stay the night in Bergen.

Day 4 and 5: Highlights of Bergen

Despite being an international city, Bergen has kept the atmosphere and charm of a small town. From your accommodation in the centre of the city, you’ll have an excellent starting point for exploring Bergen. It’s a wonderful, must-visit city, full of life and culture. In Bergen you will find Bryggen, listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site; exceptional old houses; the vibrant fish and flower market; cable cars offering stunning views; great museums and more. The stay includes a one-hour “minitrain” express sightseeing tour through the city centre, letting you get a panoramic view of the city from the Fjellveien Road, as well as the Maria Church, King Haakons Hall and the Rozenkrantz Tower. Also included in the package is a four-hour fjord tour to the surrounding fjords of Bergen, filling in your impressions of the steep mountains, towering cliffs and narrow fjords of Norway’s west coast. Stay the night in Bergen.

Day 6: From Bergen to Ulvik: The Queen of the Norw

Start the day early by taking a short bus ride to Nordheimsund, where you’ll board the boat taking you onto the wonderful Hardangerfjord. Due to its pleasant climate and clear summer light, Norwegians associate the Hardanger region with blossom and fruits, calling it “the orchard of Norway”. The fjord offers wonderful views, and the cruise will take you through areas of wilderness and quiet idylls, influenced by old traditions combined with modern times. From Eidfjord you will be taken on a three-hour bus sightseeing tour, including the fabulous Vøringsfossen and a visit to the Hardangervidda Nature Centre. After the sightseeing, you’ll go on a short ferry ride, taking you to the small, charming village of Ulvik, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 7: From Ulvik to Oslo

Enjoy the morning in the beautiful village of Ulvik before you board the bus that will take you to Voss and your corresponding train back to Oslo. Now it’s time to lie back, enjoy the peace and comfort of travelling by train, and let the impressions from your enjoyable holiday sink in. Stay the night in Oslo.

Day 8 Departure day

Transfer by express train to Gardermoen Airport.  If your flight is in the afternoon, you’ll have time for some last-minute shopping, a visit to one of Oslo’s many museums, or just to relax at a café after your holiday in Norway.
