Itinerary
Day 1 FLIGHT TO REYKJAVIK
Upon arrival in Reykjavik, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Remainder of the day is at leisure to enjoy this island of dramatic contrasts.
Day 2 REYKJAVIK
In the morning, embark on a fascinating city tour, visiting such highlights as the 19th-century Parliament House, the Hofoi House, and Tjornin Lake. In the afternoon, visit the Arbaer Open-Air Folk Museum, which comprises buildings and artefacts from different periods, including an 18th-century turf chapel. This evening enjoy a welcome reception and dinner.
Day 3 REYKJAVIK - REYKJANES PENINSULA - REYKJAVIK
After breakfast, enjoy a tour of this magical island, exploring the scenic landscape of the Reykjanes Peninsula, before stopping at Bessastadir, an ancient Viking site that is now the official residence of the current president. From there continue to Lake Kleifarvatn to see an amazing display of geothermal activity. In the afternoon have time to relax and take a swim in the pleasantly warm mineral rich waters of the Famous Blue Lagoon.
Day 4 REYKJAVIK - GOLDEN CIRCLE - VIK
Departing Reykjavik, travel to the "Golden Circle" which encompasses many of Iceland's most renowned natural scenic wonders. Thingvellir National Park is Iceland's most historic and beautiful places. Travel to the hot springs of Geysir, before continuing the two-tiered Gullfoss Waterfall. In the afternoon, travel to the small town of Vik, where black sand beaches and towering figures of black rock form an unforgettable sight.
Day 5 VIK - SKAFTAFELL NATIONAL PARK - VIK
This morning travel to Skaftafell National Park, a beautiful green oasis located near the highest peak in Iceland. In the afternoon, embark on a boat trip amidst graceful, floating icebergs - an introduction to Iceland's dramatic glaciers.
Day 6 VIK - REYKJAVIK
On the journey back to Reykjavik, travel across fertile pastures, sand flats and glacial rivers en route to Skogar, to visit Skogar's Folk Museum and a traditional Icelandic horse farm where it is said that Iceland's horses are directly descended from those brought by the Vikings. Before arriving into Reykjavik visit Hveragerdi, where steam from the earth heats greenhouses that provide Iceland with fresh produce.
Day 7 REYKJAVIK
Today is a leisure for independent sightseeing of the capital city of Iceland. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner.
Day 8 FLIGHT HOME
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Airport for your flight home.
